Welcome to Erewash Museum, Derbyshire Museum of the Year 2011, 2012, 2016 and 2019!  We are a social history museum and community art gallery hosting a fun packed programme of events, and activities.

Home for our Museum is a late Georgian house. It was both a family home and school accommodation before becoming a museum in the 1980's. Many original features remain and visitors can enjoy the garden with views across the Erewash Valley.

During the school holiday from 22nd July we will be open Monday through to Saturday (with the exception of bank holiday Monday)

Term time- We are open Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday 10am – 4pm (last entry at 3.30pm).

Admission to the museum is always free.

Access:

  • The museum is a Grade II listed building dating back to 1860.  We have tried to ensure as much of the site is accessible to wheelchair users as possible.  A recently installed platform lift now provides access to the Hayloft Activity Room.  The only areas that are not accessible are the upstairs galleries.  If you are planning a visit and would specifically like to see an object from the first floor rooms please call in advance and if it is possible to move the object for your viewing, we would be happy to accommodate this.
  • The museum has a very small car park- one space is available on site for Blue Badge holders –  subject to availability.
  • Universal access toilet on site
  • Assistance dogs are always welcome to the site
  • Hearing Loop available, please contact us for more details
  • We will be offering two Quiet Hour sessions at our summer beach on 20th August at 9:30am and 27th August at 3:30pm.
