D.H.Lawrence The White Peacock Exhibition

Date: Saturday, December 02, 2017 10:00 am - Monday, January 15, 2018 4:00 pm
Duration: 1 Month, 13 Days, 6 Hours
Location: Erewash Museum

A brand new exhibition opens at the museum next month- join us to discover the real life locations, which inspired internationally renowned Eastwood author D.H. Lawrence to write his first novel The White Peacock, first published in 1911.
The White Peacock, which was set in the countryside surrounding Lawrence’s hometown of Eastwood, demonstrates the writer’s passion and knowledge of the area and shows how he used real local locations in his fiction from the outset – something he would continue to do throughout his writing career. This exhibition, on loan from the D.H. Lawrence Birthplace Museum, contains photographs of key locations that appear in the novel alongside quotations from the novel relating to each site. The exhibition will run from 2nd December to 15th January
