This week (1st-7th June) is National Volunteers Week- a series of events set up to celebrate the impact thatvolunteers have on our community.   At Erewash Museum we are always looking to improve on what we can offer to local schools and to meet therequirements of the new national curriculum. We also feel that hands-on learning is a fantastic way for children to learn about the past. With this in mind we have developed a brand new archaeology loans box which covers prehistoric Britain from the Palaeolithic era right up to the Iron Age, which is an expanse of nearly 900,000 years! Heritage Lottery Fund
Erewash Museum already has a brilliant team of volunteers, some who we see regularly and some who can only help us out at special events. They help in all areas of the Museum including working with the artefacts in our collections, assisting with school visits and helping front of house staff on event days. 2015 is an exciting year for the Museum, with the work beginning on the Heritage Lottery funded 'Old Stables at Dalby House' project. Debbi Mills
This month we were delighted to welcome a new member to the Erewash Museum team. Debbi Mills has started work as our new Learning and Community Development Officer as part of the Heritage Lottery funded 'Old Stables at Dalby House' project. Debbi will be working to improve upon and expand the education service that we currently offer to local schools as well as developing our community outreach programme over the next three years. In her 3 years as a volunteer Debbi has become an invaluable member of the team and has helped to develop and deliver school visits to the Museum, including the always popular Suffragettes...
