At Erewash Museum we are always looking to improve on what we can offer to local schools and to meet the
requirements of the new national curriculum. We also feel that hands-on learning is a fantastic way for children to learn about the past. With this in mind we have developed a brand new archaeology loans box which covers prehistoric Britain from the Palaeolithic era right up to the Iron Age, which is an expanse of nearly 900,000 years! The loans box incorporates lots of replica artefacts including flint tools, axe heads, arrows and stone bowls. These replicas are accompanied by teaching notes with lots of suggestions for

This is a great opportunity for school children to get a sense of what it was like for people living in Britain thousands of years ago, before electricity, computers and even the written word. If you would like to book our archaeology loans box for your
class please give us a call on 0115 9071141 or email

For more information on all of Erewash Museum’s loans boxes visit the loans box service on our website.

Loans boxes are available for hire for a four week period with a small
charge of £5 and a £10 deposit.
